Chatterbait

How the Legendary ChatterBait Was Born • Garage Innovation (2004): The original lure was invented in the USA by a father-and-son duo, Ron and Tyler Shaddrick. Their goal was to create a bait that offered the hard-thumping vibration of a crankbait but could be fished deep in heavy cover like a jig. • The Hexagonal Blade Breakthrough: The secret to its erratic action was a unique, hexagonal metal blade directly attached to the eye of the jig head. As it was retrieved, the blade slapped against the head, creating an unmatched sound and vibration. • The 2006 Bassmaster Explosion: The lure went from a local secret to a global phenomenon when pro angler Bryan Thrift used it to dominate a major tournament. Demand skyrocketed overnight, leading the Z-Man Fishing Products company to acquire the patent and turn it into a worldwide bestseller. Why This History Matters for Modern Angling While the original ChatterBait was designed for American bass, its unique hydroacoustic footprint has proven to be deadly for predatory fish worldwide. The signature "chatter" and intense vibrations trigger aggressive, reactionary strikes from: • Monster Pike and Muskies hiding in dense vegetation • Big Perch and Zander feeding along drop-offs and underwater structures • Catfish and Bass responding to its erratic action on a steady retrieve or on the drop Shop the Legacy of Innovation In this category, we have curated the very best bladed jigs on the market.
