Dart jig heads (or Jig Head Dart) are a type of jig head with a characteristic elongated shape of a lead weight, resembling a bullet with a flat base. They are used to rig soft rubber lures, offering better casting properties (elongated profile) and more stable lure action, especially when fishing for perch and with small lures, ideal for drop shot techniques. The streamlined shape in the water animates the lure's movements more strongly. These types of jig heads are very popular in France, also among vertical techniques. This is a supplement to the range of triangular jig heads, here we have a wider range of hook lengths.
Where it works:
- Perch fishing: Due to the action of small soft lures and the possibility of long casts with small lures.
- Sinking techniques: Guarantees good stability and reacts to guidance, imitating small fish.
- Shape: Bullet-shaped lead weight, often with one flat side, which allows the lure to adhere better.
- Application: Ideal for rigging small lures, especially when fishing for perch, and for techniques where long casting is important (e.g., for small lures).
- Lure action: The elongated shape of the head ensures better aerodynamics in flight, and the narrow profile of the lead creates an attractive rocking action for small rippers and twisters.
- Sliding effect: In some variants (e.g., with flat lead), the jig head presents the lure flat in the water, giving a sliding effect, which is very effective.
