Roosters are recommended mainly for zander, they work well in reservoirs when fishing from the fall. There are as many ways of leading the cock as there are anglers fishing with cocks. You can use all kinds of twitches, pulls and jerks. If you have only fished with rubbers so far, try to guide your rooster in a similar way. Sometimes slower, sometimes faster, sometimes more aggressive, sometimes calmer, pausing.
